We have wanted to start this project for a while now. When we found ourselves at home for an unexpected staycation, due to the pandemic, it seemed the time to start laying down tracks was finally here. Like most things of the past few years, this project has been shaped by the strange and unusual reality we have all found ourselves in, as it forced us to change how we approached the process of making music. Originally, we had planned to bring in guest musicians from Vancouver’s indie music scene who we worked with over the past 35 years. However, due to the pandemic, this was not possible.  So instead, we found new ways to move forward and this has shaped our sound. The resulting switch to including virtual instruments has allowed us to create a combination of musical styles and sounds that we would not have previously put together.

Our sound is shaped by decades of playing, making and listening to all types of music. It is influenced by Craig’s over 35 years of live mixing and recording with bands from across all musical genres, including Tzimmes, Bob’s Your Uncle, Memory Day, Zeellia, Red Herring, and Great Northern. As well as Mel’s training as a classical cellist and years of playing and writing music with Vancouver-based indie bands. It pushes gently against the traditional structures of pop music, while reflecting a love for old-school groove. The result is something that is just a little unexpected, like receiving flowers on a Wednesday.
